In Ryker (Cold Fury Hockey #4) by Sawyer Bennett, taking over from her father as general manager, of the Carolina Cold Fury Hockey Team, Gray Brannon knows it's not smart to get involved with any of the players. Yet, there's something about Ryker Evans that she can't seem to resist. Giving into their chemistry could cause her to lose her new job, but it's a risk she's willing to take.

Ryker Evans is glad someone still believes he's capable of playing at his best on the ice. Yet, unless he can convince anyone else besides Gray before the end, of the year when his contract runs out, he may be cut from the team when management decides between those that will be released, or traded.

Although this book didn't fully grasp my attention until Gray and Ryker  came face-to-face for the first time. it was a surprisingly good read in the end. The plot was compelling, fast-paced, and I loved the various obstacles these to had to overcome to achieve their happy ever after.

The dialogue flowed really well, and was a great mix between intense when Gray and Ryker were dealing with her career, or his as an ice hockey player; sweet when Ryker was with his daughters, and playful any time Ryker and Gray were together. I loved the moment in the first chapter when one of Ryker's daughters needed help.

I liked both main characters, as well as secondary ones including Ryker's conniving ex-wife. She made it interesting the way she tried to interfere in Gray and Ryker's relationship. Gray was strong,  smart, and tenacious in proving she was worthy of the general manager position. While Ryker was a good father, tenacious in proving he was still at the top of his game, and determined to show Gray that a relationship could work between them. Despite the conflict of interest with her job, and the fact that she held the fate of whether his contract was renewed.

As for the sex scenes, they were really hot, absolutely perfect where they were in the story, and illustrated the intense chemistry these two had. For the first time, both were in a relationship worth fighting for. I loved Ryker's dirty talk through the book as well. It wasn't too excessive, which was good.

Overall, I really enjoyed this story, and I loved how it ended. Ms. Bennett tied everything up nicely. I'm definitely going to read the other books of this series, especially Zach's. I really liked him. I would recommend this if you're a fan of heroes that are hockey players, and couples that have to overcome a few obstacles to achieve their happy after.
