Love on the Cape
On the Cape #1
By: MK Meredith
Releasing June 26th, 2017
In Love on the Cape (On the Cape #1) by MK Meredith, for both Larkin Sinclair and Ryker Van Buren, the beautiful coastal town of Cape Van Buren holds painful memories. But while Ryker is determined to erase his by developing the land he's recently acquired into a master community, Larkin is determined to do everything in her power to stop his plans, because the town still holds wonderful times for her too and she wants to find a way to honor her late son's memory. However, as they face off against each other, each driven to get their way, neither imagined they'd find the love of a lifetime. Is Ryker's determination to finally find closure from the past worth the risk of losing Larkin; or will he find a way to prove his love, so they can have a wonderful future together?
What a beautifully-crafted, emotionally-rousing, fast-paced read Ms. Meredith has delivered in this first book of her new series, encompassing an incredible array of characters that will entertain readers from start to finish, intense dialogue that will tug at your heart-strings and have readers cheering for this couple's happy ever after, and a storyline about finding closure from the past and helping each other heal as well as fighting for a future of love and happiness. The way this story started had me sympathizing with the heroine, as she's only just started to heal from the lose of her son and discovering Ryker's plans for development is a serious blow for her continued healing.

As for the main characters, they were  both spellbinding and made this story a total page turner due to their emotional back stories, their growing relationship and the fact that they are on opposing sides when it comes to what they want to happen with the property Ryker has purchased. The heroine is resilient and courageous in her pursuit to get Ryker to see things from her perspective, because losing her son was tough and it's understandable why she wants to honor his memory. I also liked how determined Larkin was to make the hero understand how important the Cape is to not just her, but the townspeople and how he could do a lot of good with it besides what he was planning. Her love for the property shines through her dialogue and she certainly made me smile at times, especially since she wasn't afraid to use her feminine wiles to tempt Ryker or take help from the secondary characters; secondary characters that should have been on the hero's side. Who will win the battle?

While Ryker, he's one of the best heroes I've read recently. He's been through so much in his past, and it's certainly hard not to cry for what he suffered at the hands of someone that should have loved him. Indeed, I could understand why he would want to develop the property, so he can finally find some closure and prove the things his father used to call him were wrong. I also liked how understanding he was to the heroine's need for doing everything to stop his plans, because she lost her son and that's something no parent should ever have to deal with. Still, how could he possibly yield to what the heroine wants when he has his own reasons for needing his plans to come to fruition?

Overall, Ms. Meredith has penned another incredible read in this story where the chemistry was powerful, the romance smoldering and the ending left me exhilarated because no-one was more deserving of love and happiness than Ryker and Larkin who have been through so much in their pasts.  The way this story ended had me loving the hero even more than I already did, because of his actions and words to the heroine. She means everything to him just like he means everything to Larkin, and there's no way he won't make certain that they both benefit from what happens to the Cape. However, it was the epilogue that wrapped things up perfectly, because of what the heroine is going through that had me happy for this couple and the wonderful surprise Ryker has for Larkin. I would recommend Love on the Cape by MK Meredith, if you enjoy small town romances, the enemy to lovers trope or books by authors Marina Adair, Catherine Bybee, Victoria James or Melissa West. I would also recommend having a box of tissues within reach, because this story is bound to bring tears to readers.

On the rocky, atmospheric coast of Cape Van Buren, Maine…

For far too long, Larkin Sinclair has been seeking solace in her memories rather than living in the present. But when Van Buren Enterprises announces plans to develop historic Cape Van Buren into a gold-plated play
ground for the wealthy, Larkin refuses to watch one more beautiful thing in her life be destroyed, so she sets out to preserve the historic cape—and with it, the memory of her son. Only it isn’t the company she needs to fear, it’s the dangerously irresistible CEO who has the power to derail her plans. Annoyingly arrogant one minute and beautifully wounded the next, he awakens something in her heart that had died with her son even as his actions promise to break it once again.

Ryker Van Buren needs closure from his dark childhood and the best way to do that is to level his family home. As the rightful owner of the estate, he plans on developing it into a master community—what better way to secure his future than by selling off his past? Until he locks eyes with the passionate conservationist who fights him at every turn for the rights to his legacy. He can’t keep his hands off her, but worse, he can’t get her off his land or out of his dreams.

Attraction sparks and two broken souls recognize each other through the pain. Against all odds, love blooms on the cape. But when their pasts collide, will they choose love in the moment, or will they lose their chance at forever?
