In Haunted Hope (The Piper Sisters #3) by Ines Saint, Hope Piper finds it hard to be back in Spinning Hills, as her memories of the place are not all that good and are the reason why she left town years ago. Still, she would do anything for her sisters, even if it means facing the past and the scene of her young heartbreak. However, her sleepwalking seems to be getting out of control with her rocking up at Matt William's doorstep at various hours of the night. Will Matt be able to help Hope find the peace she needs and overcome her past, or will his own past rear its ugly head and put their chance at happy ever after in jeopardy?
I've never read a book with a character that sleep walks before, so this was actually a very interesting and riveting read, as the heroine's family do their best to try to protect her and the hero does his best to try and help her. Will Matt be able to win Hope's family over, so they can work together? The way this story started had me sympathizing with the heroine, as she's lost a lot in her past and blames herself and her subconscious mind is bringing it all back for her. Will it finally help her move forward and see that none of it was her fault? Will she get the closure she needs to be able to overcome her past demons?
As for the dialogue, it was intense and compelling due to the main characters back stories, as both Hope and Matt have reasons to want to keep their pasts right where they belong -- in the past. However, keeping things hidden could be dangerous for both of them, especially with Hope's sleepwalking and the reason why the hero isn't willing to tell the heroine everything about his past because it's not his story to tell. Will Matt ever be able to confide in Hope?Moreover, the heroine is strong, brave and I liked how determined she was to face the past, so she can finally get the closure she needs to find happiness with Matt. I also liked how she stood up to her family when it came to her feeling like they were treating her like a child instead of the adult she is, which is proven when she discovers the truth about Matt and how he's helped her. Yet, what I liked most of all about the heroine is how successful she is and her determination to try and do what's right by her employees, even if -- in the end -- it might not be possible.
While the hero, he's confident, protective of his family and I liked how he won the heroine's family over, even though the quirky secondary characters do everything they can to discover whether he's trustworthy enough for them to be able to let him into the heroine's life without the risk of her getting hurt by another man. I also liked how far he was willing to go to help the heroine when it came to the situation with her business. Would they find a way to make everything right? Yet, what I liked most of all about the hero was his determination and willingness to help the heroine when it came to her company and her sleepwalking.
Overall, this author has penned a wonderful read in this book where the chemistry between this couple was endearing, heart-warming and had me liking how the hero won the heroine's trust once they got past how the hero knew the heroine before she really knew him. The way this story ended had me hoping that the heroine would get the closure she needs from her past and had me hoping for the best when it came to the hero and what he goes through with his family. Yet, I loved the words the hero and heroine say to each other right at the end because love, family and happiness is the most important thing for anyone's life. I would recommend Haunted Hope by Ines Saint, if you enjoy second chance romances or books by authors Stacy Finz, Leeanna Morgan, Donna Kauffman and Kim Law.
