REVIEW: HOLD HER CLOSE by REINA TORRES

Hold Her Close
Wandering Hearts #3
By Reina Torres
Releasing November 13th, 2017

In Hold Her Close (Wandering Hearts #3) by Reina Torres, ending up in Sweetwater Springs is temporary, but for now, it's best the place for her and her brothers to be until Faith Carver can come up with a plan for their future. However, she never imagined she'd meet a man that she'd fall in love with. Yet, the more time she spends with Perceval 'Hill' Hillard, the more she finds herself tempted to stay in Sweetwater Springs. Will Hill be able to convince Faith to stay, so they can have a shot at happy ever after or will they lose their chance a at forever love?

This story is Ms. Torres at her best with the way it encompasses fantastic characters, well-written and compelling dialogue and a fast-paced storyline that I loved from start to finish, so much so that I could not put this book down. The way this story started with the prologue had me liking the hero immediately, as he's determined to protect the town of Sweetwater Springs and it shows he's ruthless enough to get what he wants, even though he doesn't come off that way when he's around Faith and her brothers. However, it was from the moment the hero and heroine met where this  story really took off, as their chemistry is instant and just keeps getting better.

Both the main characters kept me entertained from start to finish due to their back stories and the obstacles this couple face on their journey to happy ever after. Will the heroine be able to walk away from Sweetwater Springs when her brothers have settled in so well and have bonded with Hill? Will she go through with her plans if she can find her Mr. Right? Will Hill be able to convince Faith to stay before it's too late? While the hero, he's confident; a total card shark; and protective of the heroine and her brothers. He's good for her and vice versa and I was so glad he took a chance on winning the heroine's heart, as he needs something more in his life than his nightly gambling.

Overall, Ms. Torres has delivered an absolutely fantastic read in this book where the chemistry between this couple was wonderfully convincing and strong; the romance on the sweet side; and the ending had me loving the hero more than I already did, as there's no way he can let the heroine get away. She means everything to him and I liked that he realized that before it was too late. I would recommend Hold her Close by Reina Torres, if you enjoy Western Romance or books by authors Debra Holland, Caroline Clemmons, Kathleen Bell and Caroline Fyffe.

He was tired of gambling his life away, one lonely night after another. She was struggling to keep her family together. Maybe they could take a chance on love…together.

Perceval Hillard isn’t anything like his namesake from Arthurian Legend, but the men who sit down to a poker table with him, call him “Hill.” They knew they’d likely leave with their pockets empty and a sour look on their face. He’s made a fortune over his life and lost enough to know he’s nearly done. He wants a life away from the table. That didn’t mean marriage. What woman would want a man who’d made his living shuffling a deck of cards and that he’d wasted years of his life.

Faith Carver could barely remember what it was like to be happy and carefree. All her younger brothers could remember were long days and cold nights. They lost their father first and their mother to illness after that. Selling off their mother’s precious collection of books has gotten them so far, but when their travels puts a strain on her brother’s health, they stop in Sweetwater Springs, and Faith needs to find a job to cover their expenses.

Hill is sure he’s seeing things when he finds an angel wiping down the table at the Saloon. She was made for quiet days in a home full of things as beautiful as she is, not working until her hands are raw and red. When he finds out that Faith isn’t traveling alone, he’s surprised that he finds himself warming up to the Carver family instead of running in the opposite direction. Falling in love with an innocent like Faith might be the biggest gamble he’s ever made.

When Faith decides it’s time for her and her brothers to move on, will Hill fold, or will he decide that this ready-made family is in the cards for him?

This sweet Western romance, set in the town of Sweetwater Springs, in the same world as Debra Holland’s Montana Sky series, includes a number of friendly faces from Sweetwater Springs and will introduce you to new friends as well.
